Dreamt of being hired to play in an oboe quartet. The director made it sound easy. After all, oboes, apparently, look a lot like saxophones. Of course, oboes have double reeds instead of single, and the notes are constructed not by pressing various levels, but by stretching the four springs along the barrel in very precise ways. But I did my best. And, listening to us play together, we seemed to be nailing the piece. It was absolutely beautiful.
Taking to one of my professors about it afterwards, he explained that it was actually prerecorded and we were just there for show. We weren’t actually playing our instruments. It was the oboe quartet version of lip-syncing.
